Our Story

This is an exciting and rewarding business and one of my most favorite enterprises I have been involved with.  There is something very satisfying about taking in a dull knife, shear, blade or any other tool and returning it to a client with a professional edge on it.  I guess I just like to see an item functioning at its highest capacity!

We have been operating as Central Oregon Sharpening since 2014.  I’ve made it a point to cultivate a lifetime of knowledge and take it to the next level. I do this by using the most up-to-date professional equipment, and supplying the training to go with it. 

We have an exclusive niche in Central Oregon, and specifically in Bend. We are the only local sharpener who sharpens so many different types of cutting instruments. They include knives, scissors, grooming shears, paper cutters, serrated knives, chisels, grass and hedge shears and hand pruners and loppers. We even repair clippers.

One of the biggest benefits that Central Oregon Sharpening offers and our customers really appreciate is our policy of meeting you wherever you are. We have a completely self-contained vehicle that comes right to your door and performs our sharpening services throughout Deschutes County.  We also provide same-day service and promise a 100-percent guarantee of our work.

This is actually my encore career. I spent the last 40 years operating my construction contracting business.  After moving to Bend, and being semi-retired (and still taking on small construction jobs) for 5 years, I decided to take advantage of an opportunity to own and operate a mobile sharpening service.  I enjoy meeting new people every day and having a change of scenery from one day to the next.  I also take pride in the fact that my personal cutlery stays razor sharp throughout the year!

Giving Back

We support Orphanages of Kenya, which provides everything orphans need to be healthy, happy and educated.  In particular, Central Oregon Sharpening supports The Promised Land Orphanage, located just southeast of Nairobi, Kenya in Africa. We have owned and operated this orphanage since 2010.  Our orphanage cares for 44 boys and girls ages 5 to 18 years old.
